Shorten the steel beam whose cope was removed
Continue working in the file you created earlier. We will work with the same steel beam at the top of the column at B1 from which we just removed the cutback.

Select

Apply Planar Cutback
) from the ribbon.
The Apply Planar Cutback tool settings window appears.
- In the Apply Planar Cutback tool settings window, enter 0:6 into the Planar Cut Clearance field, since we want to cut back the beam by 6 inches.
- The status bar prompts you to identify the element for the cutback, so select the top right beam with your left mouse button. Verify the selection with another data point, and watch as the beam reduces by 6 inches in length.
